Tidbit: Open Wide Your Mouth

In this short Seer’s Watch tidbit (under five minutes), Nazim shares a reflection sparked by Acts, where it says, “opening his mouth Peter said,” and how it connects to Psalm 81: “Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.”
This simple connection becomes a powerful reminder of posture before the Lord—not rushing to speak from ourselves, but opening wide in trust and expectation that He will supply the words. Instead of pre-filling our responses, we are invited into a place of receptivity where God Himself gives what is needed in the moment.
A call to pause, open, and receive before we speak.
Hey there. Sister asked me to do a tidbit, and I sat for a few minutes or so and really wasn't getting anything, but figured I would just turn on the mic and see. And what this came to mind is this phrase that happens in Acts. Uh in this particular case, it's Peter Cornelius says to him, So I sent for you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. Now then we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord. Opening his mouth, Peter said, I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, but in every nation that the man who fears him and does what is right is welcome to him. So there's something about so there is this psalm, it's an eighty-one, open the Lord says, Open wide, open wide your mouth, and I will fill it. And so I've just been on this thread. We need to position ourselves in places where we know we're supposed to be there. The Lord has you in this context, just like Peter did, he knew I this is where I need to be, and trust that when I just open my mouth, then the words come. And I'm like, that's really good, Lord. We need that. We need that back, that understanding, that kind of positioning, that kind of dependency. Like Paul saying when he was preaching to the Corinthians, he'll say, Remember when I came to you, I didn't come with you with a persuasive argument, words of wisdom, but with trembling. And he just said, I determined to know nothing among you but Jesus Christ and Him crucified. And then God backed that message up with power. I'm like, Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. Peter's going there. He doesn't know exactly why they're calling him. And so that means he didn't have a message prepared per se. He just went, he's there, he knows the Holy Spirit wants him there, and he opens his mouth, and I believe in that moment God fills it. And then there's times, this is further confirmed in places where Jesus lets them know that when you're brought before governors and the synagogues and rulers for my name's sake, don't meditate beforehand. What am I going to say in this situation? The Spirit of God is going to give you in that very hour what to say. And if you've ever been in that kind of situation where you're there, there may be some fear and trembling, and suddenly what comes out of you is it just hit the mark. Afterwards, you're like, man, I don't even really know what I said, but I I knew as the Lord, there's something very invigorating about just partnering with the Lord like that. Man, I just was in a situation, I just help God, you open your mouth, boom, he filled it. I feel like that's actually supposed to be a way of evangelism. And may we just learn how to do that more. And so, in light of Psalm 81, where that call command from the Lord is, open wide your mouth, and I will fill it. Here's a suggestion Meditate on Psalm 81, position yourself. And I like when I read that phrase, actually opening wide my mouth, saying, God, I'm here. Ah, feed me. And uh it's delightful, it's it's funny, and it's childlike, and I think the Lord will bless it. Praise God.
